Software Technology Parks of India was set up in 1991 as an Autonomous Society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Rules of Export of Services, FEMA 2015:
Any organization dealing with the export of software, needs to provide some mandatory information in certain specific forms to the specified authority as per FEMA Guidelines This information includes:

  • The Full export value of the goods or software
  •  Such information/declarations shall be executed in sets of such number as specified.
  • Realization of export proceeds in respect of export of goods / software from third party should be duly declared by the exporter in the appropriate declaration form.

In case of Export of Software, the competent authority to whom information needs to be submitted is STPI, through submitting SOFTEX Form

  1. The declaration in Form SOFTEX in respect of export of computer software and audio/video/ television software shall be submitted in TRIPLICATE to the designated official of Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India at the Software Technology Parks of India (STPIs) or at the Free Trade Zones (FTZs) or Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in India.
  2. After certifying all three copies of the SOFTEX form, the said designated official shall forward the original directly to the nearest office of the Reserve Bank
  3.  and return the duplicate to the exporter. 
  4. The triplicate shall be retained by the designated official for record.

The information cannot be altered once the application is being submitted. However, if the authority finds any information misleading or incomplete the same is updated on the Remark Column of the Portal for the respective changes.

While submitting the application for the STPI Registration payment of Rs 1,180/- has to be paid in the favour of STPI.

Around it takes around 3-4 days, for the application to be accepted. The same is communicated to the concerned applicant via the email id provided in the application.

No, the fees have to be paid only once, post that if any modification has to be made because of the rejection of the application and resubmission.
